How to make adjustable straps

Adjustable straps are very easy to make and will bring your sewing projects to the next level! All you need is a pair of bra sliders and ring, which are very easy to find, and cheap, at your local sewing shop. Let's do this...

Step 1: The material
You'll need a pair of bra sliders & ring, colour and width matching with the straps. The straps can be made from fabric, using a safety pin or loop turner, or can be made of a knitted elastic. If you are using an elastic, ensure that it has a soft hand feel!

The length of the strap pieces may vary, everything depends on the style of your sewing project. For instance, if you are making a plunging back, you might need a longer strap.

Step 2:
Insert one slider in one end of each long strap pieces and insert one ring in each short strap pieces.

Then, join each each end of the short straps and baste together.

Step 3:
Insert the opposite end of each long straps into each ring and bring them back below the sliders.

Step 4:
Pull the straps slightly out of the sliders to make some room and wrap the ends around the middle bar of each slider.

Step 5:
Lift the top part of the straps and stitch down the ends.

Your straps are now ready to use! To adjust the straps length, simply move the slider along the strap.
